The New Year
Last year for me was the year of becoming really close with my friends. Since we are older now, our parents are more lenient of when and where we are. So, now we are able to hang out on a daily basis without having our parents hold us back. And that has really helped us create a very tight bond with one another.
This year for me will be the year of focusing on sports. This year I am really going to put all of my time and effort into practicing sports. However, this can be very difficult sometimes when you want a break. However, I believe if you are not hard enough on yourself, you won't see the improvement that you are hoping for. So, my 2020 will be devoted to practicing and playing volleyball, softball, and basketball. And as my travel coach always says, "The sport never ends, it always begins once the season is over." Basically this means that you never stop practicing and playing whatever sport it is no matter what time of year or if it is in or out of season.
I hope to improve my year by being kinder. I believe that I am already a kind person, however, sometimes I can be a little bit mean and say things that I truly don't mean. So, this year I hope to become the best version of myself.
My favorite part about last year, as I stated before, was hanging out with my friends. Every time that we were together we would always be laughing and smiling the whole time. Because all around, we are a great group of people and we always have a great time when we are around each other.
One successful thing about last year was that I got good at ball handling. I have always been the point guard in basketball and I hope that still continues. However, last year I believe that I was really able to control the ball and be able to handle it without losing control.
If I could go to celebrate the new year from anywhere in the world, I would celebrate in Hawaii. Currently, one of my 3 sisters is in Hawaii and she has sent pictures of it. It looks so beautiful and the nature and views are breathe-taking.
If I had to describe last year in five words they would be: fun, happy, experiences, friends, and glow ups:). Fun, happy, and friends all go together. I already explained ahead but whenever I'm with my friends we always have a great time and make each other laugh. For experiences, I got an experience to play club volleyball with older girls. This really helped me improve in the sports and I became a lot closer and made new friendships with that group of girls. And lastly, glow ups. This one is pretty self explanatory but most people had glow ups. (A glow up means when you grow up, you look better than you did in those younger years).
Three goals for this year are to make time for family, to work really hard in the sports I play, and to be grateful for everything that I have. I need to make sure to make time for family even through my very busy schedule because no matter what, they are where I came from and made me the person I am. Also, in sports, I want to always play to my potential and improve even more by working hard at what I want. And lastly, I want to really know and understand how lucky I am. I am very lucky to live the life I live. I love all of my friends and they are so amazing. And I love my family and how they always have my back and I truly do depend on them because they have known me from day one. So, I need to be grateful for just life in general, and I need to live it to the fullest.

I enjoyed reading all of your responses. Your writing is getting so much stronger and I love how you are trying different sentence styles. AHHH I finally understand "glow ups". Thanks! Is your sister on vacation in Hawaii or something through school? I think it would be a great place to go.You and your friends always look like you're having a great time together.
